Rosen has been magically compelled by Malcolm Anderson (local MP, hidden witch and professional bastard) to magically imbue an iron circlet. Since iron and magic don’t mix, the process caused a great deal of pain, leaving her burnt out. She was rescued from Malcolm’s car by an unlikely duo: a walking Welsh mountain of a woman (Beca) and a fierce, elderly man (Tali).
Language note: Beca is Welsh. Where you hear her call Roz “Q”, it’s “cyw,” meaning “chick” - an affectionate term for children or younger colleagues.
