Someone doesn't want Rosen to investigate why houses keep sinking.
They made that very clear when they bashed in her car.
"I didn't choose magic.
It chose me. It's like my eye colour or being left-handed."
Rosen Pearce doesn't do wands. She's a Material Practitioner — a mage with insurance and a day rate who fixes walls, foundations, and the odd possessed attic. It’s steady work, even if it does draw the ire of the traditional covens.
Something’s gone wrong with the ground, across the South West. Houses are subsiding without cause, and wild magic’s on the loose across the stone circles. The more she investigates, the more danger she attracts. Even with a firm of wildcard mages at her back, she's starting to wonder if this is one job she can't fix.
